The Corporate Landing Middle School Band is more than a class. It is an open door to many opportunities. It is a fun, exciting group that encourages you to express yourself through music. In Beginning Band you will learn how to read music, play an instrument and even compose your own music.
Instruments you can choose from in Band:

Baritone
Tuba
Percussion
What do I need to know before Band?
You do not need to know how to read music, how to play an instrument, or even which instrument you want to play. All you need to know is that you will learn a lot and have fun at the same time!
Learn about learning!
Quite a bit of educational research has discovered that students who study music do well in academic courses and on tests such as the SATs. Many organizational, cooperative, and study skills are reinforced in music classes which helps with academics.
Why should I start in Sixth Grade?
1. The other exploratory classes are offered in 7th and 8th grades. If you decide that band is not for you, you will still have the opportunity to take them.
2. Beginning Band is not offered in eighth grade or in high school.
3. Many computer-based activities are taught through core classes and we will have some computer activities in Band.
4. Students may sign up for the full year of Band (highly recommended) or for a semester with the option to continue throughout the year.
