
Mr. Reid
Mr. Reid is currently in his tenth year teaching and fifth year teaching the Corporate Landing Middle School Bands. Mr. Reid is a Virginia Beach native and attended Kempsville Jr. High (now Middle School) and Tallwood High School the year that it opened. While at Kempsville Jr. the band went to the Midwest International Band Clinic where he served as trumpet soloist. He then attended Old Dominion University where he received a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Science in Secondary Education. At ODU he performed with the concert band, pep band, brass choir, jazz band and was the only student member of the faculty brass quintet. He also played trumpet to accompany the concert choir and madrigals on numerous occassions. During his studies at ODU Mr. Reid performed with the Virginia Beach Symphony (now Symphonicity). Mr. Reid is a member of the Virginia Wind Symphony with which he performed at the Midwest International Band Clinic again in 2004 as well as the American Bandmaster Association Conference under some of the world's most acclaimed band directors such as Colonel Arnald Gabriel and Dr. Frederick Fennel. Mr. Reid also performs regularly throughout Hampton Roads as a freelance musician and on drumset with his church's praise band. He has also composed and arranged many pieces that have been played by CLMS and others including Decennis, a piece dedicated to the tenth anniversary of CLMS in the spring of 2007. In 2009 Mr. Reid conducted the Chesapeake All-City Band and in 2010 Adjudicated the District 15 District Band Festival. Mr. Reid is married to a music teacher in Chesapeake and has a weimaraner (big gray dog) and enjoys playing golf and softball in his time off. |
